Effective Date: September 30, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how ALINE INC., a Delaware corporation ("ALINE," "we," "us," or "our"), collects, uses, discloses, retains, and otherwise handles personal information when you use the ALINE mobile applications, public ALINE profile pages, aline.network pages that link to this Policy, and related features and services (collectively, the "Service"). It also explains the choices and privacy rights that may be available to you.

ALINE is a professional networking service. We use profile information, professional interests, device and proximity signals, and automated systems to help people discover and communicate with other professionals.

ALINE INC. is the controller or business responsible for the personal information described in this Policy. Our contact information appears in Section 16.

1 · Scope

This Policy applies to personal information processed through the Service, including the iOS and Android apps, public web profiles, support channels, groups, events, referrals and rewards, and related communications. The Service is currently intended for users in the United States, Canada other than Quebec, the European Economic Area (EEA), and the United Kingdom (UK). Availability and features may vary by location.

A feature-specific notice, choice, or consent request may supplement this Policy, including for location or proximity features, recordings and recaps, identity verification, analytics, or public-profile publication. This Policy does not govern third-party services that have their own privacy practices.

2 · Personal Information We Collect

The personal information we process depends on the features you use and the choices you make. Categories may include:

Account and profile information. Name, phone number and SMS authentication records, optional email address, profile photo, username or handle, account identifiers, age confirmation, professional profile information such as employer, title, industry, skills, education and work history, professional goals or interests, endorsements, links, and information imported at your request from a public or connected source.

Documents and derived information. Resumes, job descriptions, pitch decks, investor materials, and other files you upload, together with information derived from them, such as parsed profile fields, summaries, topics, professional attributes, embeddings, and other representations used for search, matching, or recommendations.

Location, proximity, and device signals. Precise or approximate device location, city or region, IP-derived location, venue or event location, travel or meeting locations, Bluetooth Low Energy signals and proximity identifiers, signal strength, approximate distance and encounter information, and, on supported devices, ultra-wideband or motion/sensor measurements. Depending on your device, permissions, and the feature, location may continue to be collected while ALINE is not visible on screen.

Contacts and information about non-users. If you grant contact permission, the Service may access contacts on your device so you can select someone to invite. ALINE prepares the invitation text, but you choose whether to send the message through your device; contact names and numbers used for this invitation flow are not sent to or stored by ALINE. We may also process information about people who do not have ALINE accounts when a user includes that information in a recording, recap, document, support request, or other content.

Communications and content. Messages, attachments, reactions, drafts, voice notes, video introductions, group or event content, photos, videos, private notes, support communications, reports, and moderation records. Recap features may process audio, video, or text from an interaction and create transcripts, summaries, topics, next steps, follow-up suggestions, or other AI-assisted output. A recap may capture another person speaking and, depending on the feature, a completed recap may be automatically shared with the other participant.

Identity-verification information. If you choose optional identity verification, a third-party verification provider may collect a government-issued ID, selfie, liveness information, and facial measurements or similar representations used to compare you with your ID. ALINE may receive verification results, status, timestamps, inquiry metadata, a face-match result or score, and identifying information returned with the result. ALINE does not currently receive or store the provider's underlying government-ID image, selfie image, facial template or embedding, liveness score, or other biometric representation. The verification provider may retain underlying verification materials in accordance with its policies, configuration, and legal obligations.

Activity, analytics, and inferred information. Search terms, profile views, feed impressions, taps, swipes, connection requests, messages initiated, group and event activity, attendance or check-in, referral activity, feature usage, match scores and rankings, inferred interests, relationship indicators, device and app information, IP address, push token, crash and performance data, request logs, and security or fraud signals. We also use analytics and, where enabled, session replay to understand use and troubleshoot the Service. Session replay may capture portions of the interface, including some profile or recap screens, subject to masking and exclusions.

Support, transaction, and referral information. Support-ticket information and screenshots; subscription or purchase status and transaction identifiers if paid features are offered; and, for referral, rewards, partner, or donation programs, referral codes and attribution, eligibility and activity status, recipient contact information, reward or donation amounts and status, fraud-review information, and tax-related information where required.

We receive this information directly from you; automatically from your device and use of the Service; from other users or participants; from public or connected sources you ask us to use; from group, event, or program administrators; and from service providers that help us operate the Service.

3 · How We Use Personal Information

  • Create, authenticate, maintain, support, and secure accounts and provide requested features.
  • Provide discovery, proximity, matching, messaging, groups, events, public profiles, recaps, identity verification, referrals, rewards, and related Service functionality.
  • Personalize and rank recommendations; explain possible matches; parse documents; create embeddings or similar representations; transcribe or summarize recaps; and provide other AI-assisted features.
  • Send account, service, safety, verification, referral, event, and transactional communications, and promotional communications where permitted.
  • Prevent fraud, spam, scraping, harassment, impersonation, unauthorized access, and misuse; investigate reports; enforce our Terms; and protect users and the Service.
  • Measure performance, troubleshoot problems, understand feature use, test and develop improvements, and maintain analytics and business records.
  • Comply with law and valid legal process, establish or defend legal claims, and support financing, due diligence, and corporate transactions.

4 · Automated Processing and AI Features

ALINE uses automated systems and service providers to parse professional information, create semantic representations, rank and recommend people, groups, events, or content, generate match explanations, transcribe or summarize recaps, create follow-up messages or shared context from recap or message content and related encounter or match context, assist moderation, and identify possible misuse. These systems may produce incomplete, outdated, biased, or incorrect results.

Current matching is designed to support voluntary professional networking and ordinary Service personalization, not to make employment, credit, housing, insurance, or other decisions producing legal or similarly significant effects. Where applicable law provides rights relating to profiling or automated decisions, you may exercise them as described in Section 10.

5 · How We Disclose Personal Information

Other users and the public. Information you choose to include in your profile, messages, groups, events, recaps, or other shared features may be visible to other users according to the feature and your settings. In-app defaults may make some profile fields, including contact or professional information, visible to other ALINE users. Other users may see profile information, professional interests, badges, group or event participation, match information, approximate distance or proximity information, and content you share. Other users ordinarily do not receive your precise device coordinates through discovery.

In the United States and Canada other than Quebec, public web profiles are enabled by default. In the EEA and UK, public web profiles are off unless you turn them on. When enabled, selected profile information may be available without login and may be indexed, copied, cached, or republished by search engines and other third parties. Public profiles may include information such as your last name, employer, title, work history, and education. Email addresses and contact links are not included on the public web profile by default.

Group, event, and program administrators. Group or event administrators and participating organizations may receive information reasonably needed to operate a group, event, partnership, referral, donation, or rewards program, including profile, registration, RSVP, attendance, check-in, roster, contribution, referral, and related participation information. Administrators may be able to see information not visible to ordinary users and may export event-specific rosters or check-in information.

Service providers. We use providers for functions such as hosting and authentication, communications, analytics and session replay, AI processing, transcription, embeddings, search and graph functions, identity verification, payments or subscriptions, rewards, customer support, security, and app distribution. We disclose personal information to them as reasonably necessary for those services. Providers and configurations may change as the Service evolves.

Legal, safety, corporate, and consent-based disclosures. We may disclose information to comply with law or valid legal process; protect rights, safety, and security; investigate fraud or misuse; enforce agreements; establish or defend legal claims; or in connection with financing, due diligence, a merger, acquisition, reorganization, bankruptcy, or transfer of assets. We may also disclose information at your direction or with your consent.

Sale and targeted advertising. ALINE does not sell personal information and does not share or process personal information for targeted or cross-context behavioral advertising as those terms are defined by applicable privacy law. ALINE may personalize or recommend people, groups, events, features, or ALINE content within the Service; those recommendations are Service functionality, not third-party advertising.

6 · Public Profiles, Groups, and Visibility

ALINE offers controls that may affect discovery, proximity alerts, group visibility, public web profiles, notifications, hiding, and blocking. These controls apply to different parts of the Service and may not remove information that has already been shared, exported, copied, indexed, cached, or retained for legitimate safety, fraud-prevention, legal, or operational purposes.

  • Discovery and proximity controls affect recommendations and alerts but do not necessarily stop all location processing required to complete a user-requested event, security, or account function.
  • Public-profile controls determine whether ALINE publishes the web profile, but search engines or other recipients may keep copies after the profile is turned off.
  • Blocking or hiding affects specified interactions but may not remove information already shared or records reasonably needed for safety, enforcement, or shared group or event functions.
  • Member-facing visibility settings may not prevent a group or event administrator from receiving information reasonably needed to administer the group or event when that access is disclosed in the relevant interface or program terms.

7 · Retention and Deletion

We retain personal information for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Policy, including providing the Service, maintaining account and transaction records, protecting safety and security, preventing fraud, resolving disputes, enforcing agreements, complying with law, and maintaining appropriate business records. Retention depends on the type and sensitivity of the information, the purpose for which it is used, available alternatives, and legal requirements.

Current retention periods that are especially relevant to users include:

  • Session-replay data: generally 30 days.
  • Analytics event data: generally to 84 months.
  • Certain proximity or encounter records: generally up to 90 days, although some short-lived records expire sooner.
  • Raw venue-scan records, including precise location at the time of the scan: currently retained until account deletion unless a shorter period is implemented or applicable law requires one.
  • Restricted daily backups may remain restorable for up to approximately 14 weeks.

Other information may be kept for the life of the account or for a shorter or longer period based on the purpose above. For example, group, event, referral, transaction, verification-result, support, safety, and legal records may need to remain after the underlying feature is no longer active.

When you delete your account, ALINE is designed to remove the account from discovery and delete or deidentify account-associated information, subject to practical and legal limits. Information may remain with another user or in shared group, event, meeting, referral, safety, or transaction records; a former public handle may be retained to prevent reassignment; restricted backups and short-lived caches may persist temporarily; and we may retain information reasonably needed for legal compliance, fraud prevention, security, disputes, or claims. Analytics records may remain until their configured retention period expires where they cannot reasonably be deleted sooner or where applicable law permits that treatment.

Deleting information from ALINE does not automatically delete copies independently retained by another user, organization, search engine, or other third party. Where applicable law requires us to pass a deletion request to a service provider or other recipient, we will do so.

8 · Your Choices

Device permissions. Manage location, Bluetooth, contacts, camera, microphone, motion, photos, notifications, and other device permissions through your device settings. Disabling a permission may limit the related feature.

Profile and visibility. Edit available profile fields and use discovery, proximity, public-profile, notification, hide, block, and report controls where available.

Public profile. U.S. and non-Quebec Canadian profiles are enabled by default; EEA/UK profiles are off unless enabled. You can change the public-profile setting in the Service.

Communications. Use the unsubscribe method in promotional email and available app or device controls for nonessential notifications. Service, safety, legal, and transactional messages may continue where necessary.

Account deletion and export. Use available settings to request account deletion or export available account information. If you cannot access the app, use aline.network/delete-account or contact privacy@aline.network.

Consent and optional analytics. Where processing relies on consent, you may withdraw it prospectively. Where applicable law requires prior consent for nonessential analytics or session replay, those technologies will remain off until you make the required choice.

9 · Security

We use administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, alteration, and disclosure. No system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

User-to-user chat is not end-to-end encrypted. ALINE and service providers may be able to access message content where reasonably necessary to provide, secure, support, or comply with law concerning the Service.

10 · Privacy Rights

Depending on where you live and which law applies, you may have the right to:

  • access or obtain a copy of personal information we hold about you;
  • correct inaccurate personal information;
  • delete personal information;
  • receive certain information in a portable format;
  • withdraw consent or object to or restrict certain processing;
  • opt out of sale, targeted advertising, or qualifying profiling, or limit certain uses of sensitive personal information where applicable;
  • appeal a rights-request decision or use an authorized agent where permitted.

Submit a request through available account controls or email privacy@aline.network. We may need to verify your identity and authority. We will respond within the time required by applicable law and will not discriminate against you for exercising an applicable privacy right.

11 · United States State Disclosures

12 · European Economic Area and United Kingdom

For users in the EEA or UK, ALINE INC., 251 Little Falls Drive, Wilmington, DE 19808, is the controller for the processing described in this Policy. Contact privacy@aline.network.

Our principal legal bases are:

Legal basisTypical processing
ContractAccount creation, authentication, and requested Service features where processing is objectively necessary to provide them.
Legitimate interestsSecurity, fraud and abuse prevention, service integrity, support, limited product improvement, and legal claims, after considering necessity and your rights.
ConsentOptional processing where consent is required, such as certain device/location uses, nonessential analytics or session replay, public-profile publication in the EEA/UK, recordings, promotional communications, or biometric verification.

If identity verification or another feature processes biometric or other special-category data under applicable law, ALINE will rely on an applicable Article 6 basis and Article 9 condition, commonly explicit consent for optional biometric verification, unless another lawful condition applies.

Profiling and automated decisions. ALINE uses profiling to rank recommendations and explain possible matches. Current matching supports voluntary networking and is not intended to make solely automated decisions producing legal or similarly significant effects. If that changes, ALINE will provide any additional information and safeguards required by applicable law.

International transfers. ALINE and many providers process information in the United States. Where required, we use an applicable adequacy mechanism, Standard Contractual Clauses, the UK Addendum or International Data Transfer Agreement, or another lawful transfer safeguard. You may request information about applicable transfer safeguards by contacting privacy@aline.network.

Your rights and complaints. You may have rights to access, correct, erase, restrict, or receive your personal data; object to processing; withdraw consent; and complain to the supervisory authority where you live, work, or believe an infringement occurred. Section 10 explains how to contact us.

You may object at any time to processing for direct marketing. Where we rely on legitimate interests, you may object on grounds relating to your particular situation.

13 · Canada

This section applies to users in Canada other than Quebec and supplements the rest of this Policy. Depending on where you live, Canadian federal or provincial privacy law may give you rights to access or correct personal information, withdraw consent where applicable, or challenge our compliance.

ALINE is based in the United States, and ALINE and its service providers may store or process personal information in the United States and other countries. Personal information may therefore be subject to the laws and lawful access requests of those jurisdictions.

For Canadian privacy questions or requests, contact our Privacy Officer at privacy@aline.network. You may also ask the Privacy Officer for written information about our policies and practices regarding service providers outside Canada and questions about their collection, use, disclosure, or storage of personal information. Promotional or other commercial electronic messages to Canadian recipients will include required sender information and unsubscribe options.
